May I suggest you not waste your time or energy trying to reason with those that are incapable of it. There are a couple of old sayings that I think would go a long way towards resolving the issue. They are:

"Arrogance is mankind's most dreaded disease..." and

"You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink."
