Actually Windows 2000 is a replacement for NT 4; it was originally named NT 5. The current replacement for Windows 95 is Windows 98.

While cost is a major factor when deciding on an upgrade, another important factor is how easily the upgrade can be performed. If Windows 2000 is a breeze to implement, then the migration rate will be faster. But somehow I doubt if it's going to be plain sailing.

BTW, has anyone here successfully upgraded from NT 4 Server to Win 2000 Server? I'd like to hear about the experience.

Cheers!

Many companies just finished upgrading for Y2K, so may not be budgeting big additional expenditures this soon, IMHO.
