James, JDU shares do not have much trading volume on the Toronto Stock Exchange. I guess they decided on the JDU exchangeable shares so that massive selling was not going to occur upon the merger of Uniphase and JDS. Canadian mutual funds have foreign content limits if they want want to be considered eligible for retirement accounts as domestic.

I should have saved the post that explains the whole issue but maybe the original poster can repost it if they see this message.

I don't see any negative effect on JDSU resulting from the tax cut. The trading volumes on the TSE and Nasdaq tell the story.

James,
Can't see a big influence on JDSU with the tax cuts. However, I am very certain that many Canadian JDS investors were waiting to hear the budget to see if there was going to be a reduction in the capital gains rate. The pending stock split in conjunction with the rate adjustment will likely lead to some shaving of positions. Especially for some who have been into the company (JDS Fitel)for the past several years... But can't see it moving the market.
