SECX news: <SMILES> (COMTEX) B: (BLS) SED International to Distribute Prepaid Wireless Se B: (BLS) SED International to Distribute Prepaid Wireless Service for BellSouth Cellular Corp. ATLANTA, Feb 29, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- SED International, Inc. announced today that it has entered into an agreement with BellSouth Cellular Corp. to distribute BellSouth's prepaid wireless solutions to third-party agents and resellers. Under the agreement, SED International will provide online fulfillment services including product warehousing, secure order processing, packing and shipping of BellSouth's prepaid wireless phones and cards. SED International will offer these services to a variety of channels, including e-commerce sites and authorized BellSouth agents, while serving as a critical partner in their customer acquisition efforts in BellSouth's coverage area. "We are pleased to enter into this relationship with BellSouth to make a dramatic difference in the services and support they provide to their customers", said Mark Diamond, President and C.O.O. of SED International. "This fulfillment service opportunity, with a market leader, will foster recognition for the services that we support to our VAR's, dealer-agents and e-commerce partners. The prepaid wireless solution from BellSouth will be instrumental in forging relationships with retailers outside of the traditional wireless model and market. And more importantly, this product offering allows our computer resellers in 360 southeast cities to enter the wireless market with little to no investment while expanding their business. This is a value-added proposition that is seamless and lends itself well to our electronic commerce strategy." "Prepaid wireless services are increasingly popular with consumers and are an important segment of our business," said Richard Cost, director of consumer sales for BellSouth Cellular Corp. "This agreement with SED helps us increase the number of distribution points in the southeast to make BellSouth prepaid wireless services more accessible to more people." BellSouth Cellular Corp. companies, BellSouth Mobility (BMI) and American Cellular Communications Corporation (ACC), provide wireless communications services to customers in 10 states. BMI serves customers in seven southeastern states. ACC markets operate under a variety of names in California and Texas and as Cellular One in Indiana.
