Announce Partnership to Provide High Speed Internet Access to the Lodging Industry Business Wire - February 28, 2000 12:49 LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 28, 2000-- Alliance Gives Lodging Industry One Source For Complete, Turnkey Voice and High Speed Data Services Darwin Networks and Property Technologies Ltd. (PTL) announced today a partnership to begin offering high speed Internet access (HSIA) to the lodging industry, following the announcement of PTL's new Internet Services Division (ISD) on February 1. This move comes in response to burgeoning demand from hospitality clients for an HSIA solution to alleviate the increasing number of busy signals guests experience when dialing through a hotel's PBX. As a strategic solutions provider, Darwin will provide sales, surveys, installation and maintenance. Darwin's flexibility, as demonstrated by its offering of an HSIA design that utilizes either a hotel's existing voice wiring or new Category 5 cable, was one of PTL's primary reasons for choosing Darwin as a strategic partner. "With solid financial backing and strong ties to the Internet community for possible integration of e-commerce applications in the future, Darwin is positioned to stay well ahead of the competition," said Douglas W. Adams, who will head up the new division as national sales manager. "Darwin's philosophy and joint marketing approach with hotels is clearly the best offered by any HSIA provider in the market today." "Today's business traveler wants in-room high speed Internet access, but doesn't want it to interfere with their ability to receive or make regular phone calls," said David Wigglesworth, president of Darwin Networks' Hospitality Division. "Together with Property Technologies, we can now offer the lodging industry a turnkey solution that avoids this problem. Property Technologies represents the kind of company that we seek to partner with to deliver industry-leading solutions." PTL's first two installations of HSIA are scheduled later this month at Holiday Inns in Kentucky and Virginia. For an existing wiring scenario, Darwin will deploy DSL technology manufactured by Elastic Networks. All sites will be monitored 24 hours a day/7 days a week from Darwin's Network Operations Center (NOC). A toll-free number for the Customer Support Center (CSC) is also available to hotel guests.
