Larry,
Hi!!

RE: Out of box...

There really are infinite possibilities here...Management has been working at a feverish pace to rid DELL of the boxmaker image.....Michael has told everyone that they will seek out the most profitable....
There are a variety of "mysteries" in many of the announcements that DELL has made in the last year or so....FAST is one that really intrigues me...This search engine has enormous potential....Why does DELL own a stake in it? WEBMethods' stake is also another possibility that has me imagining how DELL can use this in their servers....My understanding is the former DELL VP of Ecommerce left DELL for WEBMethods...DELL know anything about WEBMethods and what it can do for B2B relationships? :o) Owning a 10% stake in WEBMethods is certainly a nice start...
Then there are the dreams I have of what DELL can do with their premier pages...The revenue there is something that boggles ones' mind...How many employees do work for the thousands of companies that DELL has set up a premier page for? Figure that they set up a contractual agreement with Wall Mart....Home Depot....Toys R Us....Office Depot...etc...(make em up) for a %.....Then they hook these loyal customers up to their site and sell "everything from a jet engine to a paper clip"....I think this may just qualify for out of box....
:o)
And, then there are the add ons....Add ons with a new product for the home or office or whatever...An article was written awhile back from the Austin Statesman by Jerry Mahoney....Jerry is very excited about what DELL plans to do in the future....Jerry has covered DELL a heck of a lot longer than I have...and if he is excited...I'm excited!

Best, Kemble
