RRC - In at $2 & I am sitting at $1 7/8ths and love it here.../Who kicked HAL !!! Own the small caps in baskets; but they are right back to where we were last year - remember all those charts I posted on how they outperformed the OSX, large caps and EVERYTHING else ? - they are poised to once again. But, due to the tremendous value's in large caps and their ability to leverage via options, or margin - own small caps in baskets and keep them a reasonable % of the portfolio - maybe 15% ish, or so. Food for thought on RRC. Convertible preferred arbitrage - is long the "converts" & short the common - SOP... no surprise there. If you want to maximize your profits & are a hedge fund - which there are many in RRC here; you sell long stock forcing down the price of the common - which you have hedged with the convertibles; you then cover your short and buy more long as you shake out the weak hands;then let the common run off of positive earnings - then re-hedge/short your long converts with a fresh short-hedge... no rocket science, but we've "been here & done this" enough - to know when to hold, when to fold, when to walk away -when to run and when to BUY THE HELL OUT OF IT... it's time to BUY THE HELL OUT OF IT ! How many times has RRC spiked off of this type of shakeout. I ask you one simple Reagan-esque question here: Is RRC better off today than it was last May at $5 ? ... I rest my case. ... no hidden boogiemen in the "fundamental business" woodpile - just shorts, arb's & a savy shakeout - period. Not for the slow of foot, the meek, or the unimformed - caveat emptor~ RRC has positive hedges and the JV certainly assures - ZERO chance of BK here; as does its near sector leading Reserve life of 14 years, positive cash flow and earnings. The GOM properties of RRC are the hidden icing in a cap ex expansion that could be seen as soon as Q3 this year. Throw a little gravy on the year end commodity price valuation and that impact on increasing their proved reserves. Insisders own a huge chunk of this company. Ronca's potential lawsuit is total chump change - not a factor in this stock. I LLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOve HAL here - looks like it received that "kick in the ass" it needed ! HAL is THE OSX buy. If we have OPEC "do the right thing" - then HAL is a pocket-rocket to $48ish imho... just watch. Taking "some" profit on HAL today - wouldn't be my style if I didn't - I'll try to re-buy it back cheaper before the post OPEC Boom 2000 Train takes HAL to $48-$50. Anyone get any calls on HAL back at $33ish ? - kudo's if you did... "Q" - how 'bout that UPR today ? Jim L - agree on XTO - money in the bank and add EOG to that share buy-back supported floor - load it in the $13's - all you can get. ================================================================== SargeK; FGH is "now" all of a sudden just 15% of your total portfolio ? ROFLMAO ! ... you are a hoot ole' bald prevaracatious one... I suppose you daytraded the balance into Rambus or something... PS - don't stick your fat nose into things you obviously know NOTHING about like E&P's, or RRC Sluggo ... (VBG). ... bye the way: is FGH not down again on an OSX rally day ? HELLO ! - if it's "fallen and can't get up" on a day like today; when will it Sarge ? THREE STINKIN BUCKS - just watch; that DELAYED , STALLED earnings release will be the wooden stake in Sargacula's heart (VBG)... GET OUT while you still have a chance :) ... put a damn fork in it ~
