Nihil,..OTOT Re:.Socialists have learned to create more effective regulation to force firms to become more efficient, fairer, and more progressive.

A free market is the only arbiter of efficiency, fairness and economic well being.

Re:..While socialism can make the welfare of the people as a whole consistent with economic efficiency and growth, it will flourish.

It's failed everywhere.

Cheers,

Lee

It's really simple. If you want to discourage something, you tax it. If you want to encourage something, you subsidize it. Socialism taxes success and rewards failure. If Socialism wins out (because of the greed of the "masses" wanting their free handouts) eventually everyone is brought down to the same level. As more and more people quit trying to succeed because the penalty for success is too steep, the penalty (taxes) must be made even steeper to continue to fund the handouts which discourages success even more. Finally the whole system collapses because there's no one left to tax in order to fund the handouts. Only capitalism encourages success by allowing those who succeed to keep the fruits of their labor.

OT: Socialism

I couldn't care less what the French, German, and Canadians think about capitalism.

Socialists care about the poor: they try to help them, heal them, feed them, teach them. Capitalists don't give a damn for anything except profits.

Yup. Liberals (like you) think that what matters is your motive, regardless of outcome.

Conservatives hate government so much that they cannot run an honest, efficient government.

Yup again! 'Course, neither can your Socialists. They've proved that over and over again.

Until capitalism and conservatism can appeal to the masses of the people, socialism will continue to grow and take over more and more governments. While socialism can make the welfare of the people as a whole consistent with economic efficiency and growth, it will flourish.

LOL! Son, you've been drinking too much of your own whisky!

Socialism couldn't flourish if you watered it every day with a muli-billion dollar subsidy. It don't know how to flourish. You just proved it yourself. It's too concerned with other things, and not concerned with getting business done. You complain that all capitalists think about are their own profits. That's what it takes! If you had ever bothered to look at successful small businesses, you'd see that they require an intense concentration on winning. It's that profit motive (that you think is so evil) that creates wealth. And that's why you haven't got a chance in the world of succeeding.
