Vital Statistics - 2/29/00

According to VideoScan?s First Alert Reporting Retailers, for the week ending Feb. 20, 1999, the number of DVD titles sold is holding steady at 747,000 yielding a tremendous year-to-date total of 5,268,000!

According to the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), for the week ending Feb. 18, 2000, unit sales to dealer of DVD players were 76,184, a 222.9 percent increase over this week last year. Projection television sales were 26,467, a 24.7 percent increase.

Month-to-date, DVD players are still high at 185,303, a 237.6 percent increase over February 1999 and projection television sales are 63,314, a 46.9 percent increase.

Year-to-date, DVD player sales are 555,334, a 207.8 percent increase over 1999 sales and projection television sales are 155,524, a 34.3 percent increase.
