Does anybody know why the short interest is so high on this stock?>>>

Well, would it have anything to do with the fact that INPH does not trade options?
We all know the risks of shorting a stock outright. I tend to buy PUTS rather than short a stock, if I feel the direction of the underlying security will be down. INPH had a great run in early November when the SAN sector got really hot. Then the bad HWP press followed nearly a month later while INPH was still trading relatively strong. I can see a strong case for shorts to get involved back then....but not now, and not to the extreme that we are witnessing (nearly 2 million short shares out of a 2.5 mil shr float). But since you can't buy an option on INPH, you are forced to sell short if you want to play INPH from that side.

It's mind-boggling to say the least. And the MM manipulation of this stock is really pathetic. The tiny float really widens the spread. IMO, the MM's know the upside risk for INPH and they price it accordingly, knowing that if a flood of buys come in, that they will not want to be holding short positions themselves. I've mentioned to people in the past not to place "market" orders for INPH but rather to place "limit" orders, as you really piss a lot away by paying the spread in this issue.

Anyway.....time will tell.

B
