Re FPSO approval in GOM...

Under Minerals Management Service (MMS), part of Interior. It seems to be stuck in a bureaucratic morass, a multi-year study. Very hard to find any information about timing of decision. Lack of FPSO's in the GOM brings up a question that I haven't been able to answer, here or elsewhere.....if not FPSO's in the Gulf, then what? A number of deepwater projects completed...what will be needed to produce them? Lots of idle production platforms but will they and can they be used in deepwater? Will deepwater GOM require a lot of platforms or is it mostly subsea work to link together and share facilities? Lots of ramifications for the fabs and subsea construction companies.

Viking Dog: A question about PGO's FSPO's.

Perhaps you could throw poor old Bullsky a bone here?

Most of the FSPO's seem to be designed for duty in the North Sea. Does this make them unsuitable for production in the much warmer climes of Brazil, WA, and of course the GOM, without substantial and expensive refit? If so, would they even want to? I guess my abysmal ignorance is showing, but hey, can't learn if you don't ask.

Welcome back to the good old USA, and seriously hope for more Dog posts in the future.

If all this is just too boring, maybe we could talk about something REALLY interesting ----- BLONDES! ;o}

TIA
