Applied Materials Gives Options to Israeli Workers, Paper Says
By Felice Maranz and Joshua Muskat

Rehovot, Israel Feb. 29 (Bloomberg) -- Applied Materials
Inc., the No. 1 maker of semiconductor equipment, offered
employees of its Israeli unit stock options worth about $59,000 at
the current share price of 176 7/8, Yediot Ahronot reported. Each
of the 700 employees of the Rehovot-based unit received options,
regardless of his or her position or seniority. The Santa Clara,
California-based company has offered each of its 15,000 employees
worldwide options on 400 shares that can be purchased at $30 each,
the newspaper added.

Applied Materials earlier this month raised Chairman and
Chief Executive James Morgan's 1999 bonus nearly fivefold after
the company's shares almost tripled last year.
