S M -- Margin is a tool like any other. Not one I am comfy using in this mkt. Have recently used a tiny % but cleared it rather quickly. Have been trading about 25% - 40% of the portfolio on trades of a day (unusual) to a month and up to 10 months,,, trades have been turning so fast in this mkt I have been holding between 13 and 24 issues,, 12 is much easier to track,,, Luck-- and when all mkts are consistantly running very broadly I'll be fully margined again,,,

I beg to differ. If you're "playing" the stock market like it's some sort of game then indeed you could lose it all. I don't gamble with my positions. I make educated INVESTMENTS and although I am sometimes wrong I tend to be right more than not. This may seem like a casino to you.. to me it's a business... that being said I have a number of non stock assets that have served me well and turning my gains in the market into tangible capital investments or "toys" is the way to get value out of the gains in the market while also diversifying.

How long have you been "gambling"?
