Dan, <How long did it take between the release of the 80386 and the appearance of 32 bit windows NT?> How long do you think it will take between the release of x86-64 and the appearance of any operating system that supports it? After all, when Sledgehammer's customers demand 32-bit performance over 64-bit performance (according to Jerry Sanders), why should there be any driving need to establish a software base for x86-64?
