pz,

One of the boxes was in a rural area which was run by the major land holder with many acres, and a lot of share croppers. When we showed up, I thought the man was going to burst from apoplexy. Never have I seen such a red face. His share croppers all came in to vote(they were all black) and he proceeded to tell them how to vote. When we told him that was not allowed, he threw a tantrum. Then he said they could not mark their ballots, and asked them how they wanted to vote. The reply, always, was; "we wants to vote just like you does mister boss." It was a crying shame that all these people were still held in virtual bondage. When we left that evening, the "boss" shouted; "If I had known you b*****ds were gonna be here, I woulda run more of my n*****s in!" Now, all of those people have been educated, and can think for themselves. Instead of the farce of sharecropping, they are either paid regular farm hand wages, or have bought small tracts for themselves. At least some progress has been made. ~H~

The demo's certainly didn't want us there
I believe that was my point. Many Texas office holders of today (as well as the past) who carry the Democrat label only do so because it was difficult to be elected as a Republican. That is why you can't take an endorsement of a politico with a Democrat label as a sign of bi-partisan support.
