"any idea on whether all this has anything to do with the mysterious "fourth stage" of the JDSU game plan?" that being POSSIBLY "optical switches" .

I don't know tekboy but it sure was the first thing that popped through my mind too. That and my earlier discussion with DS concerning discontinuous innovations and if JDSU had any 'inventions' of their own that would qualify (i.e. move them into the possible gorilla game versus royalty). I included the whole quote from number of products, to speed, to kk discussing their immense R&D budget and saying that this is their first fruits from that budget. Couple all of that with the rumors that LU's mirror optical switching device (the name escapes me right now) is actually made up of key JDSU components (someone who was confirmed to work for JDSU passed that one on via the raging bull thread months ago). Time will tell.

I believe what is important here, none the less, is the speed gain - 4x! If it isn't an optical router then it sure looks like stage IV is headed that way.... i.e. SPEEEEED!

For what it's worth I pulled off all of my sell triggers on my ETEK trading shares(my play into JDSU) to wait this thing out. 350-400 for ETEK is not out of the realm of possibility now.
