Well, I'm only 24, but I did work for a year and a half at a major brokerage house (and learned quite a few things! and you can probably deduce which firm, as I'm here in the bay area) and am now working as a financial analyst at a tech firm here in the Valley.

Pretty amazing huh? The www.m2im.com site has been hit 4600 times since Sunday afternoon, just by word of mouth--and it's been accelerating, which I look to be an indication that more and more people are hearing about how 3Com is indeed the way to get into the IPO.

I also was able to speak with Eric Benhamou, last October for a one on one meeting, after I went to the shareholder's meeting (and sat down next to Jim Barksdale!). Of course, they made me sign forms of non-disclosure agreements, but all that we talked about is now public information. After hearing all the negativity (back then it was thick) surrounding his character and leadership abilities, I was pleasantly surprised at his demeanor, his intelligence, and his vision for the company. Strangely enough, during the meeting, we only discussed Palm for a very short time. The rest of it pertained to how the company was going to establish itself within their three new emerging areas, and how that was building up slightly faster than they anticipated (although their modems and NICs fell off significantly, and he admitted to being caught off guard). I did try to post a summary back then (without disclosing with whom I had talked) back in October, and all the information--including the Color Palm introduction has now been made public.

So no matter what I read in the media (EB very much disliked the media because they always attacked him), I feel confident that the leadership team at 3Com (sans Palm) will be able to execute their on their vision for renewed growth in their emerging areas. Oh, and he sits in a cube, just like everyone else.

"Thank you for your faith and trust--and I hope to make our investment worthwhile," he told me. Eric and company at 3Com/Palm, thank you.

Mark
