Martin: Motorola has a history of announcements that sound very impressive (such as the previous one that MOT would sell its chips to other companies) released at exactly the same time as major Q press releases of real substance. This may be just another one of those, but can't tell yet.

As usual with MOT, the pro MOT press (which seems to include most Eastern Establishment media outlets) swings into action touting the MOT announcement as a "breakthrough" and Q killer. Note the drumbeat now.

Does this mean that MOT's 1XRTT+ is vaporware? No way to tell yet, since details are scare.

But if past is prolog, there is more noise than substance here.

And MOT has a history of falling short in actual production of "new" products - glitches and delays seem to happen.

And it will be particularly interesting to see when will the MOT 1XRTT+ be available. Will it be this summer with roll out in the fall and winter as 1XRTT itself from the Q will be? Or is its timing more like the next iteration 3XRTT - i.e. in a couple of years.

Time will tell.

Suggest we watch and try to learn more.
