JDN and Charles, re: Intel/Sun

If a remember correctly, Intel claimed that Sun wasn't committing the resources it needed to Intel 64. Intel doesn't make a habit of dismissing markets where it can sell it's products, so I assume there must have been at least some truth to this.

Now, reading between the lines, it sounds like Sun's customers may have put pressure on Sun to support Intel architecture. I personally do not see the benefit to Sun of customers using "free" Solaris on Intel 64, could you guys enlighten me?

Note it wasn't a joint Sun/Intel press release. Wonder if we will hear something from Intel? And if not, what that means?
