``We expect International growth to be a stronghold in our overall growth for 2000 and Canada is an important market to us both in narrowband and broadband,' said George Bell, president and CEO, Excite@Home. ``Through our @Home affiliates, we've already got a strong presence with broadband in Canada with more than 6 million homes passed in our @Home footprint. With the launch of Excite.ca, we're now bringing Excite-branded content to any Canadian who is online.'

Nearly half of the Canadian population (49 per cent of Canadians aged 12+) are now Internet users according to a September 1999 Internet study by ACNielsen, while an even larger group -- two thirds of Canadians -- have some form of access. With a growing number of people using the Internet at both home and work, Excite.ca provides users with a personalized ``starting point' regardless of where they choose to use the Web.

CANADIAN PARTNERSHIP

Excite@Home, along with its cable operator partners, is the leading provider of broadband Internet services in Canada. The company entered the market in 1997 with the @Home service through affiliate distribution agreements with Rogers Cable and Shaw Communincations. In 1999, Cogeco and Moffat Communications (Videon) joined with Excite@Home to make the @Home service available to its customers.

Excite Chairman Tom Jermoluk said the company is on track to meet its 2002 target of $2 billion in revenue and operating profit equal to 35% of revenue.

These numbers are lower than I had projected.

We should expect to see a slight reduction in subscription revenue per subscriber as tiered pricing schemes are introduced into the market (lower access fees, lower bandwidth options). In addition, the revenue split will approach 50/50 between ad/e-commerce revenue and subscriber fees, by 2002.

Subscriber growth, with the help of the self-install option, will approach 800,000 per quarter in 2002.

I've lowered my expectations.
