**OT** PentaMedia to Push Net Broadcasting sunnt.com numtv.com pentafour.com By Hari Menon India Correspondent, asia.internet[March 1, 2000--MUMBAI] PentaMedia Graphics Ltd has tied up with Sun Network to broadcast a range of channels through NumTV, an IT-oriented Internet entertainment portal. PentaMedia (formerly Pentafour Software & Exports Ltd) is creating Internet broadcast channels targeted at specific segments, including movies, music, business, astrology and religion. A company spokesperson said the idea was to develop NumTV into an entertainment portal, and added that negotiations are also on with several other TV channels. "In two to three years, revenue from our Internet broadcast business is likely to outstrip revenue from the rest of our multimedia business," said V. Chandrasekaran, chairman and managing director of PentaMedia. He claimed that PentaMedia's Internet broadcast venture has proved a success with Indians in the US and Europe, registering over 100,000 page views since its launch two months ago. PentaMedia has also tied up with Singapore Telecom to provide broadband access for NumTV. The multimedia major, whose infrastructure can currently accommodate 50,000 viewers, proposes to make US$100 million worth of acquisitions over the next 18 months to bring in more content. "Since some of the acquisitions may require stock swaps, we would need to list on certain overseas exchanges. We'll take a decision on this after the end of this financial year," Chandrasekaran added. PentaMedia's new studio, claimed to be the first of its kind in Asia, will help the company to meet the increasing demand from Hollywood and Indian filmmakers for sophisticated animation and special effects. In December 1999, Pentafour created what it described as the world's first real-time, 3-D animated motion-capture film on the adventures of Sinbad the Sailor, called Beyond the Veil of Mists.
