PMSW:

Re. MSFT (just so this note's on-topic), is today's move the last "Meow!" from a dead cat bounce, or is the stock really starting to pick up steam? The Nasdaq's up powerfully over the last two days and this stock's barely moved, inclining me to the former viewpoint.

Re. idiot-proof trading strategies, try modifying your strategy a bit by using the buy side of it but without the sell side. Or, since that assumes an infinite stream of capital inflows, invoke the sell side of the strategy only after the stock has incubated for 1 year. Be sure to include tax effects, too. Also, instead of using the MA, try using percent-from-recent-top. Until recently you'd have done very well buying MSFT on any decline of 10% or more from a recent top, extremely well on declines of 15-20% (which aren't seen as often).

P.S. I'm looking for an idiot proof method of managing my portfolio because for certain, some day, an idiot will be managing it.

As soon as you think you've found it, someone else will invent a better idiot.
