Psion and Motorola to cross-license technologies
LONDON, Feb 29 (Reuters) - British handheld computer maker Psion Plc (quote from Yahoo! UK & Ireland: PON.L) and cellular phone maker Motorola Inc (NYSE:MOT - news) said on Tuesday they had agreed to cross-license their GSM and Symbian technology to create new wireless devices.

``This cross-licensing agreement is evidence of the depth of the co-operation between the companies and builds on the relationship established with our joint development project,' said Psion CEO David Levin in a statement.

Under the deal Motorola would license to Psion its advanced GSM cellular communication Module and Psion would license to Motorola its next generation Halla processor.

Psion said the deal would provide the companies with a vital competitive edge in emerging mobile Internet markets.
