KOPN on fire...operating at capacity.........................Kopin Announces Plans to Double CyberDisplay Capacity
Demand for Company's Display Products Sparks Volume Increase
TAUNTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 17, 2000--Kopin Corporation (NASDAQ:KOPN - news) today announced plans to double the production capacity of its CyberDisplay(TM) products to 200,000 units per month by July 2000. This marks the second major expansion of Kopin's display operations in the past 12 months, reflecting the strong demand for CyberDisplay products in camcorders, digital still cameras and other portable electronic devices.

The CyberDisplay is a 0.24-inch diagonal active matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD) imaging device which displays information at 320 by 240 pixel resolution. At 1,700 lines per inch, it is the densest transmissive AMLCD in the world. In addition to displaying sharp text and graphics, the CyberDisplay operates at video speeds and consumes less than 20mW of power including the backlight. This combination offers original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) performance advantages, high quality images, and the lower power consumption that portable products require.

``The demand for our CyberDisplay products has been very strong,' stated Dr. John C. C. Fan, Kopin's president and chief executive officer. ``Our CyberDisplay monochrome and color products offer performance advantages such as high information content, small size, low power consumption and video speed, and provide a significant price per pixel cost advantage to our customers. Recently announced CyberDisplay orders from JVC, Matsushita and Mustek demonstrate our ability to deliver high quality, volume shipments to the camcorder and digital camera markets.'

``Our CyberDisplay production schedule remains on target, and we are now embarking on our next phase of expansion,' stated Dr. Boryeu Tsaur, Kopin's executive vice president of display operations. ``We have reached a production capacity of 100,000 units per month and our Taiwan display assembly partner, Unipac, has also been qualified by our customers for volume production. Our implementation of production automation for display assembly is proceeding on schedule. We will continue to expand and enhance our production systems, information technology systems, quality control systems, and other sophisticated manufacturing tools at an unprecedented rate. In addition, we will increase our personnel to support our strong product demands and new product development schedule.'

MSTR is a monster. CHRZ solid, new B2B concept is in fertile territory - don't you guys hate getting the voting card from the librarian and then waiting in line to punch and put it in the box? anyway, new concepts get taken away in this market, and I don't think this will be any different.
