OT - Just when you thought it was save to get back in the water.

Zeev - I saw the craziness start in the Superconducting stocks last week. These frenzies that have been rotating from tech sector to tech sector have been making me mad! Anything that might have any impact on "wireless" is hot now. It seems like such silliness. I decided to fight back. On Friday, Monday and Tuesday I shorted SCON as it rose from 30'ish to a peak of 115. This morning I covered at 70'ish for a decent profit.

I'm really starting to worry about the market in general. But I'd like to hear your "long term" opinion about Superconductors. I know you have a lot of technical background in that area. Feel free to PM me if you don't want to clog up the VLNC thread.

ZEEV: LOL! Yah, "touches" tend to run hot and cold. I think the key to them is not to confuse a hot streak with some sort of intrinsic, "Master of the Universe" capability. Because no matter how well you do, still there's a large component of luck.

Be that as it may, I have found you can qualify your luck by doing a number of things, one of which is doing a massive amount of reading, in a variety of subject areas, and from documentation from all over the planet. And this is where the internet really plays into my tendencies....reading, researching, etc.. I think somebody somewhere said it best once....luck is a combination of strategic/tactical planning and positioning.....

But I digress....yup, I've played AMSC. I liked what they were/are doing with their superconducting wire. Got out of them when they ran up this last time, although I may get back into them. They're in what I consider the "alternative energy generation/storage/transmission" category. As such I'm also following such as MXWL(super-capacitors), ENER(for their "three pronged" product strategy, BLDP(for obvious long term reasons), PLUG, as well as companies(Europe mostly) that're into the Kaolin Process(magnetic separation using superconducting technology).

I'm high on the industry longer term, although as in any R&D phased industry, there'll be lot'sa "bumps" along the way. Meanwhile, hows'bout that VLNC? ;-)

Regards!

John~
