Dinesh -

When discussing Java apps, we are talking about something very different from MetaFrame.

The issues are similar to those discussed the first time the subject of Java was thrashed out on this thread. Java apps have to be written for specific tasks. Certainly they have an important place in the computing world.

Running off-the-shelf Windows apps via MetaFrame is just not the same thing at all.

There is some overlap of functionality, but for the most part different situations will call for one or the other. It isn't usually a matter of deciding which one scales better.

All my own opinion, of course.

Dinesh- We had some excellent discussions about this new Java model waaay upstream. To bad SI search engine doesn't go back further. But if you hit this link, you can see that our, "Java on the server," discussion was even further upstream from it: Message 11191159

If you can find the starting point link to the start of the Java discussion, please post. I would like to re-read some of that info to. We even brought over a few Oracle investors to join in the conversation. It was pretty enlightening. The Java proponents, ie. Oracle8i, made some interesting arguments. -MikeM(From Florida)
