Yes, you are right some dodging going on.

Having said that not even the strongest AMD bull expects sledgehammer to outclass Merced on optimized heavy duty 64 bit apps.

The real question remains about how significant having great performing 32 bits apps will be.

IMHO it will be very important to lots of folks in midrange.

And i suspect that AMD is hedging on the late 2001 schedule for sledgehammer - guess we will have to wait and see.

The worst case i see for sledgehammer is that it will have limited server market.

But it should still be a great workstation and high end desktop chip regardless.
