With all due respect to PB and Tench, a CEO is in a position to know a whole lot more that an engineer and a fab tech.

Not necessarily. CEO's are frequently insulated from the actual work by several layers of management who's bonuses depend on reporting good news. Scott Adams has written extensively on this subject.

There was one particular time in my career a few years back, where I was aware of a critical problem with a design, and was unable to convince the CEO because of too much misinformation from his direct reports. It almost cost him his job, but fortunately he dropped that product line and the company has been doing quite well ever since. ;^)
