The key phrase there is "among Republicans". Yes, of course, McCain trails Duh who has already been crowned by the party establishment. What is surprising about that?

Very interesting to see that McCain has a huge lead over Gore. If McCain kicks up a big fight in the convention at Philly and decides to contest on a third-party ticket, things will get very very interesting.

Open primaries make little sense. Why have political parties? They should just schedule a national referendumb.

At the very least, primaries should be open only to registered members and independents. That would curtail the kind of organized sabotage practiced by Big Labor and McCain against the GOP in MI.
