Ted,

But it's still fun to think the word is out there that AMD is ahead in the MHz race. In truth I bet there only is a small group of people who really care.

The x86 market dynamics have always given the bulk of the profits to the top 10% speed grades. K6 lost money because it was 10% behind Intel. K7 makes money because it is 10% ahead of Intel. Winning the MHz race is what makes or breaks AMD as an investment.

ted <Yes, I know....and I don't take any of those polls too seriously anyways. What's to stop someone from voting 10 or 15 times?>

Having been one of the Apple gang, I thought I would share that last post. Most polls note they are not scientific and also provide a link to view results. I had to vote again to see the current results... maybe I missed the view results link. Don't tell ZDnet! Should I go back and cancel out the last vote?

I agree -- consumers look at price and the MHz and may ignore the other components/aspects (such as reliable brand and support) while as a business user I look first at reliability & support, then details, and finally Mhz. Of course, I like the opportunity to buy an extra 100 MHz since the end of last year.
