Epinephrine, I am interested in your thoughts, how good do you think EPIC will be and what are the chances that EPIC will turn out like RISC? I think that EPIC will be successful, because Intel and HP have put a lot of thought into scalability and other specific features important to servers (like broadcasting.) The performance of McKinley will probably be much higher than anything that the brain dead architects at UltraSparc will come up with. Alpha had a chance, but Compaq's inability to commit wholeheartedly has left it on it's deathbed. IBM Power will have it's niche, but I don't really see anything else which can compete with IA-64 going out into the future. I'm not counting on AMD to do anything, but who knows? Scumbria
