100% placement at IIM-Lucknow in one day - ICICI among recruiters

Top offer at IIM Lucknow Rs 9 lakh plus ESOPS

NIVEDITA MOOKERJI

It was 100 per cent placement in little more than a day. At the end of Day One last week, over 90 per cent of the students of the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow, were employed. By the middle of Day Two, the entire class of 2000 had found some plush job or the other.

According to IIM-L's media relations spokesperson, this is perhaps the first time that any institute in India has been able to place almost the whole batch in one day. "This is no minor achievement considering that we have a large batch of around 170 students."

As in any other placement, numbers are crucial here too. So here are some for figure-savvy readers: There have been 15 US placements with salaries open to negotiation and commensurate to relevant skills and experience. The Information Technology sector accounts for more than 50 per cent of all the offers made. About 70 per cent of the Day One placements at IIM-L have been in the salary range of Rs 4.5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh per annum, a major jump from 1999. And the maximum Indian salary offered was Rs 9 lakh per annum..........

But according to the spokesperson, salary was not the high point of this year's placements. Rather, it was the variety of job offers that made it a good show. Also, IIM-L emerged as one of the preferred campuses for the IT companies. The major recruiters included FatWire, Infosys, HCL Technologies, IBM, CTS, HCL Infosystems and Wipro. ICICI and HLL also shopped majorly here for IT personnel.....
