New Delhi: Thin-client major Citrix Systems has shortlisted a couple of companies in India for acquisition, which it expects to complete by March this year. This is likely to be done through its planned subsidiary in the country.

Globally, Citrix is looking out for acquiring technology companies is the Internet space. For this, the company has set up a technology taskforce in US comprising top level company executives, which will look at the company's acquisitions worldwide.

"Citrix plans to make a mark in the ISP space and has decided to make most of the acquisitions in this area only. The taskforce will look after the business expansion propositions of Citrix," said Michael McGrath, Director of Marketing at Citrix Systems Asia Pacific. He, however, declined to reveal the company's budget allocated for the plan.

Citrix is expected to infuse funds from its international operations into the domestic market as and when it requires after setting up its subsidiary in the country.

McGrath further explained that one of the key objectives of the acquisitions would be to strengthen Citrix's presence in the country. "We would like to acquire a company that has strengths in distribution and a major presence in the country, so that we can leverage on its infrastructure. We already have an office in Mumbai and a very good distributor in Datapro," he said. "We really need to grow much more aggressively and faster than the current infrastructure allows. The acquisition will also act as our subsidiary. We will buy the company lock, stock, and barrel, and use the infrastructure to our benefit."
