Huh? Don't follow your "simple" math at all. It's like saying 1+1=11.

Really? Except you forgot the $38 is ALREADY accounted for in the price, why do you think it has gone up the last couple of weeks? So to me, that says the inherent value of coms by itself=$53. (53+1.5x38=110) So, for example, let's assume the IPO doubles, then the price will be approx $167, but with a discount for the 6 month waiting period, so maybe $150. If it triples, you should see around $200. Not too bad, no matter what math you use.

That didn't work on the ASND/LU deal, and lots of other deals before that.

We'll see if you are right this time. <G>

Hope you're not using that kind of new math to do your day trading.

Day Trader:

I like your math and I'm sure you must be correct. On the day of the HWP/A spin off last November, when A finally priced at 30 on 11/28, HWP opened the next day at its previous day close of 81 plus 0.36 x 30, or around 92 (0.36 was the distribution ratio of A to HWP). When A started trading on 11/29 at 45 1/2, HWP immediately went to 95-96.

I posted a detailed discussion of the HWP/A spin off trading dynamics here a week or so ago, and I speculated that we may just see this type of additive reasoning on PALM IPO day. "Simple Math" indeed. I like it.

Now don't you regulars start enlightening the "day traders" of the world!

David T.

P.S> Now why did a bunch of you go jump the gun and reply? A bit of positive "spin" can't hurt here can it?
