Paul,

Rob - Re: "Itanium is a development platform... it won't have much
interest at all as its clock-rate sucks and will suck
compared to Willamette and Athlon... clock rate isn't
everything but both Free-Willy and Athloss will have
outstanding memory systems, etc."

Seems like you completelu ignored your old favorite - ALPHA !
No... seems like you weren't paying attention... read my
first reply to Tench.

What frequency are the Production Alpha Servers shipping at?

700 MHz this month... less than Athlete and less than
Cooperville. This gets much better and won't look back
after this summer, 1+ GHz EV68 finally ships. By the way,
have a good piece of information... IBM is sampling
some VERY fast Alphas for the Q.

By the way - why didn't that fellow from Compaq discuss the 8-way Alpha Servers

Ummm maybe because 14-way AlphaServers have been shipping
since 1995, so what's your point? Are you confusing
a 32-way Wildfire with something? Wildfires are already
seriously back ordered and they haven't even offically
shipped yet... $1 billion worth expected to ship from
June to December.
