Rande here is a company that will IPO tomorrow. The symbol
is UTSI, I'm wishing it goes unnoticed with all the palm ipo hype so I could get some cheap shares (which I doubt lol),taken from hoovers

UTStarcom hopes to become a star by being the leading seller of telecommunications equipment in China, a rapidly emerging market. The company, backed by Japanese high-tech giant SOFTBANK, makes and sells wireline and wireless network access systems, optical transmission products, and related software and products for voice, data, and broadband Internet access networks. Although the company is headquartered in the US, nearly all of its sales are to Chinese local telecom providers, which UTStarcom targets through a direct sales force. In addition to owning 60% of UTStarcom, SOFTBANK's founder and CEO, Masayoshi Son, chairs its board. Intel owns 6% of the company.

Good Luck
Nick

Thanks for the help, Rande. The quality of the underwriter surely must make a difference, as well. But even it we want some shares, how do we get them without being a favored customer of the underwriting firm? And trying to buy it on the day it starts to trade is like a high-stakes crap shoot, n'est pas?
