Intel had nothing to lose because they were losing it anyway. But AMD has an improving reputation to protect. I desperately hope that they scoff at this release and stay the course....

I think you're right. I wish AMD would hang tight and announce only what they can ship in volume.

But what do I know. At this point I'm inclined to trust the management that has brought AMD so far, so soon. As an in-house-design X86 company, AMD is what, six years old? And they have Intel thrashing around like a chicken with it's head cut off.
