GPSI) AppNet and Great Plains Partner to Build Interconnected Business Environment for Great Plains' Community
BETHESDA, Md. and FARGO, N.D.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 21, 2000-- AppNet, Inc. (Nasdaq:APNT) and Great Plains (Nasdaq:GPSI) today announced a partnership to design a Web-based business environment that delivers personalized, end-to-end business processes, community interactions and buying power aggregation to any interconnected community member.
Community members include Great Plains' network of business partners, customers, investors and team members and the communities they interact with. The Web-based business environment will increase efficiencies, streamline business processes and improve the economics for all its community members.
Under terms of the agreement, AppNet will provide strategy consulting, design and delivery of a Microsoft-based Web business environment. Great Plains will use its transactional backbone, eEnterprise, to facilitate the interconnected business environment among more than 130,000 customers, 1,500 channel partners and 1,800 team members already within the Great Plains community. This engagement represents the latest in a string of business-to-business (B2B) marketplaces being built by AppNet.
"As strategic partners with Great Plains, we are uniquely positioned to leverage our knowledge of the company and our experience with other large scale e-business community and portal projects like UCCnet, VEBA Electronics, and bet.com, to meet Great Plains' e-business needs," said Jack Reinelt, division president of AppNet. "We're excited to utilize the unstoppable power of the Internet to interconnect Great Plains with its various business communities."
"The Internet enables businesses to interconnect beyond their four walls to their direct business community, and more importantly, to business communities around the world. As most of these interconnections will result in transactions, Great Plains' transactional expertise, coupled with AppNet's expertise in building business-to-business sites, will play a key role in facilitating this interconnected business environment," said Lynne Stockstad, vice president of e-business at Great Plains.
