IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 6, 2000--

More than 400 Business Executives Attend First Two Seminars to
Introduce the Award-Winning eCommerce Solution
to Japanese Corporations

Magic Software Enterprises (Nasdaq: MGIC.O), a leading provider of
e-commerce and other enterprise-level business solutions, Monday
announced that its wholly-owned Japanese subsidiary, Magic Software
Japan, has contracted with five major solutions partners and one major
consulting firm to market, sell and implement the company's
award-winning e-commerce solution, Magic eMerchant(TM), in Japan.
The five solutions partners include Fujitsu LSI Technologies,
Toshiba Engineering Inc., Agrex Inc., Nav Assist Corp. and Sumisho
4S, who have all agreed to use Magic eMerchant as a basis for all
future e-business programs they implement. PriceWaterhouseCoopers
Consulting Inc. will be the primary consulting partner for Magic
eMerchant business in Japan.
Magic eMerchant recently was introduced in the Japanese market
with a media conference and two introductory seminars that drew more
than 400 high-level business executives interested in learning how
Magic eMerchant could benefit their companies.
Magic Software Japan, which has seven sales offices throughout
Japan and more than 800 business partners nationwide, expects to use
this early momentum to capture a sizeable share of the Japanese
e-commerce market.

A Leader in the Japanese Market

Magic Software Japan, which was established in 1998 and began
operations in 1999, has built a solid reputation and strong presence
in the Japanese market, where it currently controls approximately 20%
of the application development technology segment.
Currently, Magic's products are being used by more than 18,000
corporations nationwide in that country, including Tsumura & Co.,
Tostem Corp., and Matsushita Electrical Industrial Co. Ltd., among
others.
"The launch of Magic eMerchant in Japan and the collaborative
support of our partners will enable Magic to continue to offer the
Japanese market a very high level of technological superiority and
service," said Jack Dunietz, chief executive officer of Magic.
"Japanese companies will benefit from the consulting expertise of
our partners and the cost savings and efficiencies that Magic
eMerchant provides companies wanting to quickly web-enable their
businesses."
Magic eMerchant, which won a "Best of Show" award at the Internet
Commerce Expo in Boston last year when the product was first
introduced in the United States, is a customizable e-commerce platform
that combines an industrial strength e-commerce solution for supply
chain management with a powerful virtual order center.
It delivers enterprise-level processing power and security along
with rapid integration with back-end corporate systems. All of Magic
Software Japan's new partners plan to use Magic eMerchant to enhance
their product offerings, and increase the already high levels of
customer satisfaction they enjoy.
"The appeal of eMerchant lies in its high level of security and
scalability, as well as the fact that it can be introduced within a
very short timeframe. In addition, its fast and easy customization
features give it exceptional productivity, making it ideal for
Web-based system integration," said Shuichi Kakehi, manager of the CIM
division of Fujitsu LS Technologies.
"At Fujitsu LSI Technologies, we have positioned eMerchant as one
of the major platforms in our future solutions business."
"Toshiba Engineering intends to position eMerchant as a major
solution in our e-business endeavors," said Kenichi Doi, vice
president and group executive of Toshiba Engineering Inc.
"We believe that eMerchant, with its superior customization
productivity and rich extensibility, is ideally suited to the current
working environment, which demands much faster delivery and more
frequent system modifications and extensions."

RESEARCH ALERT-Merill starts Magic Software

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

LONDON, March 7 (Reuters) - Merrill Lynch said in a research
report that it had initiated coverage of Israel's Magic Software
Enterprises Ltd MGIC.O with a buy recommendation.
-- "Magic has developed a computer language so
simple to use that it saves 80%-90% of programming time, over
more traditional tools like Oracle's developer 2000 and
Progress," said analyst Tal Liani.
-- Sees 12-month price objective $40.
-- "A two-pronged strategy was implemented in 1998:
a) vertical integration to gain the mark-up generated by the
software houses; & b) a focus on e-business and CRM
applications.
-- "The success was immediately noticed: the
Company launched its first e-commerce module in
September 1999 and has gained already 14 contracts.
-- "Also, Magic's Linux offering is another source
for an upside. All Magic's applications are ready for Linux. It
has also recently released the first native Linux development
tool.
-- "We attribute a lot of value to Magic's strong
marketing channels: it has presence in 50 countries and work
directly or through 2,500 software houses, which exclusively
develop and market Magic applications.
-- "To conclude the upside, we see three sources of a
further rerating: the shift in focus on to the applications
market; P&L-enhancing acquisitions; and the Linux upside.
