KIS, the figurehead on top is appointed by the president, and anointed by Congress/Senate. the facts you point out are well known here. institutions like the Fed have an elephantine memory...after the '29 crash it came in for a lot of criticism and it took quite an effort to keep its powers intact. the chart sounds like a splendid idea...i may try to work on one over the weekend. and yes, the smooth continuation of the bubble is the main goal of policy. we're being led down the road of utter destruction.
