i'll have to dig up some old chartbook for that...but i remember the first downswing in the Nikkei was more or less a straight drop, not the convoluted up-down-up-down we've seen in the S&P.
in any case, the NAZ is the most parabolic monthly index chart i've ever seen. i never thought the Nikkei would ever be bested in that regard, but the NAZ beats that mania hands down.

nevertheless it's almost a done deal that it'll close positive today...-s-

Mohan, these correlations mean nothing. Any two time series that are trending in the same direction will be highly correlated.
