Elmer, <Fact is that it has been published that Intel had a new stepping coming out. Why is it so hard to believe that they have made a jump in frequency and availability?> I didn't say they didn't make a jump in frequency and availability. Nor did I discount anyones claims about a new stepping. But abandoning all rationality and releasing a processor that admittedly will be scarce to the point of non-existence and doing so before you completely satisfy demand for existing speed grades or release any incremental speed grades in between is desperate, Intel is not releasing 1GHz because they got a jump in frequency and availability, notice I am still not saying that they didn't, merely that such a jump is not the reason, if it was they would have also released incremental speed grades in a more rational move, but they didn't, they skipped the incremental speed grades in a blatant attempt to grab 1GHz PR, that is desperation. <You guys are just stuck in the mind set that says Intel will screw up forever. > Elmer, I have never claimed that either, in fact I assumed that Intel would get it's act together, for them to keep screwing up would have been to much to hope for. What is truly baking my noodle is that this "launch" of theirs proves that they aren't done screwing up yet. This launch is a mistake. <This is painful for you, I know, but you are going to have to come to grips with this. There is lots more headroom still above 1GHz. Lots more.> Oh yes, that's right, Coppermine is the miracle chip and will scale forever. I have truly never claimed that Coppermine was a dead duck and I think that it is unfair for you to imply that I did but I do claim that there are limits and if you think that Coppermine will scale forever then what good is Willamette. No offense Elmer but you aren't thinking clearly. Thanks, Epinephrine
