JRI, RE: Expectations

In October 1998, the Nasdaq was at 1500. In October 1999, it was at 2700. Today it closed at 4754, a 76%+ change from less than five months ago.

Tech stocks are certainly in a cyclically strong period. That happens now and then. Thats why you invest in tech stocks, the strong cyclical periods outweigh the periods when they underperform the market.

If you expect the Nasdaq to continue it's recent performance it will be at 8367 in August. At 14,725 in January, '01.

EMC aside, you can't depend on 50%+ per year from any investment. Sooner or later, many folks will wake up to that fact.

We are fortunate to live in a brief, extraordinary period of growth in equity prices. I wouldn't complain about a percentage point here or there on one equity.
