I'm posting this old press release because Bowstreet seems to be just the kind of partner for NDS that we want to see; Bowstreet just got a big slug of VC $$ and they are putting together an impressive team. There was an Active Directory press release the same day as this NOVL one; does anyone know whether Bowstreet's putting more emphasis on the NOVL relationship?

PORTSMOUTH, N.H., May 3, 1999 - Bowstreet Software, Inc., today announced that Novell (Nasdaq: NOVL) and Bowstreet will work together to integrate Novell's industry-leading directory services products - including Novell Directory Services (NDS) and future technologies such as the recently announced digitalme - with Bowstreet's Web Services Architecture (see related news release). The first eBusiness platform to combine two cutting edge technologies - directory services and the Extensible Markup Language (XML) - the Bowstreet solution lets customers create, deploy and manage thousands of highly customized Internet channel relationships over corporate extranets - on the fly and with minimal programming. Engineers from the two companies will work together to integrate the two companies' products.

"Bowstreet's solution tackles one of the more challenging but promising areas of eCommerce: moving complex sales and distribution to the Internet. We see tremendous value to our customers in working with Bowstreet to ensure that our directory services integrate seamlessly with the company's innovative architecture," said Chris Stone, Novell's senior vice president for strategy and corporate development. "Bowstreet's solution demonstrates the wide-open possibilities for Internet Channel Management and eBusiness applications based on the potent combination of directories and XML."

I wonder if you ever noticed the "IGNORE THIS PERSON" feature - its the LINK in the center of the lower strip of every post on SI - you don't have to waste your precious time at all! In fact, you can ignore EVERYONE except the one you respect.

Besides one person's relevancy is another person's "waste of time" so you've proved one point - we all have different needs which are satisfied in many different ways. This is the very nature of community. If you don't think that is relevant to Novell - you missed Dr. Schmidt's keynote speech last year at BrainShare.

But I'll keep this short :)
