I disagree with you on the Newton theory. I work for a utility company that is using them to load all of their service orders into them via a pc and the serviceman take them out in the field to access the work order, (this is now done on paper orders). You have drop down menus that are accessed using the pointer (or a pen works) and then you take them back in and upload the information to the pc upload it to the mainframe and to update the customer information system and you have all the data on the pc to use excel and word to create reports. That is where the strength of these hand helds will be felt, from a business prospective. The cost of these devices are minimal compared to other systems. The next step is finding a way to transmit infomation from the main office out to the field directly to the palm device. I know UPS have these devices but I do believe the price is way over the price of the palm. We are paying 350 dollars a palm (including software) per serviceman a very good return for what they can do. The software company is being paid per palm (hmmm I made 30 percent on CICI yesterday!).
