There is no problem buying BAY. It is on the TSE. Very easy with US brokers and commissions are afordable. Ask the US shareholders on BAY thread, there is a discussion on the subject right now.

Richard, better avoid those pesky Canadian stocks, too much country risk according to the South Africans:

Gold Fields head sees more mining risk in Canada than S Africa
Toronto--Mar 8--Christopher Thompson, chairman and CEO of South Africa's
Gold Fields Ltd, said Tuesday that he believes mining companies face greater
political risk in developing a project in Canada than they would in South Africa. Thompson feels the environment in Sou th Africa is more accommodating to miners and investors than in Canada's highly bureaucratic mining industry. (Story .21522)
