david - re: In other words more horse&$%#@ from a Dell dink and Mr. Softie. At least you are honest!

If you read my posts on the DELL thread you will see that I am much harder on the DELLheads than on this thread. My investment in DELL in 1997 was one of the things that let me get to my current "semi-retired" status but DELL was a dog in 1999 and I am looking for the right opportunity to reduce my position. I have done well selling covered calls and puts, and shorted DELL in January the day before they warned...

MSFT is in a similar situation. Although I have had my MSFT position a lot longer, the stock has been a disappointment recently. I like MSFT technology but recognize its limitations. I like Win2K but as Charles says, it's really just the next rev of NT, not a ground-breaking new paradigm. It fixes much of what was wrong with NT4, and adds some nice new features - I particularly like the plug and play and the transparent VPN stuff - but it does not in itself provide the means for MSFT to move beyond their current level, and it is about 2 years too late to do what it was intended to do strategically.

Those opinions have been posted in detail on the MSFT and DELL threads. If you think that's horse&$%#@ so be it...
