ECRI US WEEKLY LEADING INDEX 126.4 LATEST WK VS 126.2 PREV WK
09:00 EST 03/03

NEW YORK (MktNews) - ECRI's Weekly Leading Index (WLI) of economic activity rose to 126.4 in the week ended Feb. 18 from 126.2 in the prior week, while its growth rate increased to 2.6% from 2.5% last week, ECRI said.

"The Weekly Leading Index (WLI) of economic activity is pointing to fairly healthy growth ahead for the U.S. economy despite some moderation from last year's pace," ECRI said.

"Growth in the WLI edged up in the latest week due to faster growth in industrial prices, more mortgage applications, lower initial jobless claims and a tighter risk differential between corporate bonds of different qualities, mostly offset by slower money supply growth and declines in stock and bond prices. Monthly WLI growth rose in January mostly because of a rise in mortgage applications."
