Why QCOM will miss earnings this QTR p1

SG Cowen analyst Wojtek Uzdelewicz lowered his earnings estimate for
fiscal year 2000 by 2 cents a share to $1.03 from $1.05 to reflect the
dilution and higher operating expenses from the Snap Track acquisition. See
full story. The current consensus estimate on Wall Street for fiscal 2000 is a
profit of $1.05 a share.

The firm also lowered its royalties projection to reflect seasonally weak
wireless handset sales.

However, Uzdelewicz maintains his "buy" rating on the stock, noting it's
well positioned to to benefit from the growing acceptance of CDMA
technology.
