Gasoline: A "dire situation?"

My, my, what a difference a year can make - from the Glut, the Glut, the Glut, to a "dire situation."

Supplies are 15 percent lower than a year ago, and while
producing nations may begin to boost oil output as early as April,
it would still take about a month for shipments to reach refiners.
Recent refinery problems also have helped boost gasoline prices.
``This is equivalent to where heating oil was' earlier this
year, when snowstorms and low supplies sent winter fuel costs
soaring, said David Becker, energy derivatives trading manager at
Citibank NA in New York. ``But there's much stronger demand for
gasoline in this country. It's going to be a dire situation.'
